TrueBeam™ STx for Prostate Cancer
The TrueBeam STx system is a widely used form of nonsurgical prostate stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) believes that enough clinical evidence exists so that SBRT should be considered an appropriate alternative for select patients with low- to intermediate-risk prostate cancer. TrueBeam STx uses continual image guidance technology and computer-controlled robotic mobility. The TrueBeam STx system automatically tracks, detects, and corrects for tumor and patient movement in real time throughout the treatment. This enables the TrueBeam STx to deliver high-dose radiation with pinpoint precision to the prostate, and to minimize radiation exposure to surrounding healthy tissues.
